Queensland Commodity Services (QCS) today announced the engagement of new trading manager, Darren Chen.
“We are very pleased to have been able to secure Darren’s services on a contract basis from 7 May,” said QCS General Manager Brent Casey.
“Darren has spent over ten years with international sugar trade houses Cargill and, most recently, Alvean.
“Cargill is the largest privately-owned corporation in America, with major businesses trading, purchasing and distributing agricultural commodities across the globe, including sugar. Prior to forming Alvean as a joint venture with Copersucar, Cargill was one of the largest sugar trading companies in the world. Copersucar, the world’s largest sugar and ethanol company, is based in Brazil, and is one of the largest exporters of sugar worldwide.
“Alvean specialises in originating, commercialising and trading raw and white sugar globally.
“Darren brings considerable trading, pricing, foreign exchange, and marketing experience to QCS. We look forward to working with him over coming months, to continue to deliver strong returns to Mackay growers,” said Mr Casey.
